If one of the requirements to win a car in a sweepstakes is that you must have insurance...?

If one of the requirements to win a car in a sweepstakes is that you must have insurance, and I currently am on my Mom's insurance listed as a occasional driver, would that disqualify me if I win the vehicle? Or, will it work out as long as I can provide my insurance card saying I have car insurance, even though the plan itself isn't in my name?

What the sweepstake people are doing is saying that they do not provide insurance and to protect themselves from any confusion insist that the winner has. It is also a more responsible attitude than allowing someone to drive away uninsured .

If you win you can arrange insurance yourself. As long as you can show cover for the vehicle when you pick it up would satisfy the organisers.
Reply:No, you just have to have insurance when you pick up the vehicle. You could buy the policy that morning, just as long as there is coverage when you pick up the car.

(You're also on the hook for the taxes on the value of the car which can be a few thousand dollars. Winning a prize is great until you get the tax bill.)
Reply:You have to win the car 1st, then worry about the details. Insurance is the least of your problems. What about the Tax and Registration ? ever think about that ?
