Why did the Marlins pull out of the Manny sweepstakes?

What made Florida pull out of the potential deal for Ramirez?

Why did the Marlins pull out of the Manny sweepstakes?
The Marlins wanted too much. Basically they wanted Manny plus 7 mil, plus 2 prospects to help cover the cost for Manny's contract. All the Red Sox would get in return is Jason Bay from the Pirates. Sox didn't think that was a fair deal and pulled back...This is what I heard on ESPN today
Reply:the marlins arent good enough to be able to deal with manny..he's a little too much of a distraction to play for a team that still is building
Reply:I'm sure Manny equals their whole payroll. It made no sense for them to get him when Boston refused to pay most of his salary.
Reply:The Marlins didn't pull out, the Red Sox did. The Marlins were asking for more than the Red Sox wanted to give up.
Reply:Hermida - 3 hits, 2 RBI, 3 runs scored...

and he can cover more ground in the outfield...

... im glad it didnt happen, not for Jeremy.
