The only way they would be able to take it is if you were on Social Security disbility.
Reply:I am currently going through a divorce and was granted tempera spousal support; I also draw Disability Social Security. I called to report the new income and I was told that it would not affect my Sol.Sec. I also told them that when my divorce was over I would probably be getting quite a bit more money and still they told me it did not matter; my Soc. Sec. check would not be affected. Don't be afraid to call your Soc. Sec. office and simply ask them.
Reply:Depends on your age. At 65 and three months, it doesn't matter how much you make.
Reply:r u a scab ripping off the system
Reply:you will not lose benefits but there will be tax consquences--unless you are referring to medicaid or similiar benefits--not the regular social security--then either assets or earnings over the limit will end those benefits.
Reply:It probably depends on your age. If your 65 or older probably not, but call or email then to be sure.
Reply:It is not earned income from a job so it shouldn't be affected.
Reply:Never heard of anyone losing their social security (check) for winning a lottery or sweepstakes. I work part time and still receive both retirement and s.s check.
Reply:I am willing to bet that the taxes will be deducted and I think like the other person said as long as your at the age of retiring your fine. But I would call the feds and ask the rule might of changed in the last three minutes.
