I have just won a large amount of money and a BMW from a lottery sweepstakes in the UK? How do I check it out?

I am pretty sure it is a scam and if it is it should be reported but to who. So far I have not been asked to send them any money and at no point will I send money. Thanks

They will ask you to pay for taxs..


If you refuse...they will give you a check or money order to pay for the taxs...which will be a fake check.

The money orders will be fake....very good fakes.


You can hand them to a 25yr old bank teller and they wont know the difference.


The checks go in your account.


Your bank "HONOURS" the checks


You send the money to the scammer in Nigeria


The bank sends the check back to the issuing bank (can take up to 6 months)


The Issueing bank refuses to "CLEAR" the check.


Your bank says"Hey...you put in a fake check ....wheres the money?"


You say" I sent it to [insert scammers name here] by western union money transfer(untracable) to that lovely man/woman/both in Nigeria"


The bank says"??? you robbed your own bank???"


You plead Ignorance..."Im innocent" etc


They say "But YOU put the check in our bank...." and you do jail time for bank fraud

Reply:There are a lot of scams out there, if it sounds too good to be true it must be false and you did not enter the draw then it's just a ruse to get information from you. destroy the email. it may deliver a spyware program to your computer. Good luck!

Reply:Was there any chance that you did join any kind of lottery or raffle draw in UK?! If not... chances are its FAKE/SCAM... I mean, think about it... you didn't join anything or bet into anything yet you won a very large amount of money and a car?! Don't send them anything... just check on UK Gov't website and see on what department where you can check it or report this kind of thing.
Reply:Anything that seems too good to be true probably is. Delete the e mail, and block the sender, and do not respond to it in any way.

when you get something like this, hitting the delete button is the wisest choice.


Actually, receiving email from people you don't know, check the box next to their name and click on Sp*am.

Reply:It is a big scam, the news in North Carolina just did a report on that, the checks in the mail look so real that even the bank had trouble telling them apart from the real ones.


Beware of anything you receive from UK or elsewhere.
Reply:Did you buy a lottery ticket in the U.K.? It's a scam, no one just gives away large amounts of cash and expensive cars to random strangers.
