Who will land the Scott Gomez sweepstakes?

Scott Gomez announced he will become an unrestricted free agent today and will demand top dollar for his services. Since the Devils will probably not fork over the salary to keep him, what team will land him?

i think the people knockin gomez don't know hockey. he is a very skilled and fast player who plays in a defencive system. if he played for a team like ottawa or buffalo he would put up big numbers. to answer your question i've heard on tsn that the leafs might go after him
Reply:I hope the Flyers pick him up. He can bring some veteran leadership that they sorely need. He's a grinder which fits the Flyers system well. The Flyers have been missing a good physical center since we traded Handzus and Primeau retired. He'd be a good fit in Philly, probably a 3rd line player though, behind Briere (we will sign him, there was a reason we traded for Biron) and Jeff Carter. As much as it pains me to give credit to a Devils player, I've always liked Gomez.

Reply:I think that whatever team he signs with should thank their lucky stars to be getting such a talent. I hope that he will re-sign with the Devils, but, I'm sure that Lou will not do what is in the best interest of the team and try and keep him. Good luck to you Gomer where ever you end up

Reply:Wow, some of these responders are out to lunch. I am one of the biggest detractors of NJ's style, but Gomez is one of the real talents on that squad. He leads playoff scorers, is a remarkable playmaker and his skating has improved ten-fold since he broke into the league.





He may not get Drury money, but he's at $5M right now and $6M is not out of the question, by any means.

Reply:Who cares. He's not a great player and therefore not worth top dollar. He's not skilled offensively, he's not great defensively and he's not a good playmaker. On most teams he'd be 2nd line at best.
