Is the UK National Lottery legitimate, and do they have an online Sweepstakes International Program?

I was informed that I won a lottery in the United Kingdom. They said I was selected randomly from World

Wide Web sites through computer draw system and extracted from over 100,000

unions, associations, and corporate bodies that are listed online. This

promotion takes place weekly. They gave me phone numbers I could contact. How do I know if this is real? My email came from Newcastle Lottery and is signed by a lady named Kate Smiths

the Online coordinator for UK NATIONAL LOTTERY

Sweepstakes International Program. Does anybody know about this?

try emailing them back saying thank you, you only live down the road and if they provide you with the address you will pop in the next day to collect. I bet you won't hear from them again!
Reply:It's a scam. If you don't buy a lottery ticket, you can't win the lottery.
Reply:Ignore it its a lie and a con, I fell for stuff like this years ago and spent and lost hundreds of £s. The National Lottery in the UK costs £1 per line of of numbers and you have to call them if you win they wouldn't tell you 'cause they wouldn't know who you were.
Reply:Did you play the UK lottery? If you did not then it is a scam. I get those emails all the time just delete it.
