If you did it's a Scam going around and would like to know if there's anyone else that got ripped off by this scam?

I heard of a scam like this on the news today. I wouldn't cash it, I would say it's a scam. If you're really interested, call the number or google search it.

The scam begins when a letter is sent via the U.S. Postal Service from a foreign or unknown address, according to police. The letter usually informs the person that he or she has won a contest or sweepstakes, and instructs the recipient to cash an enclosed check for a large amount of money and send a portion of it to a specific electronic account or address. Those addresses or accounts, however, are generally unable to be tracked to someone, according to police.





Other incidents ask the person to provide an account number in which the winnings can be deposited, according to police.





Police say that none of the contests or sweepstakes are legitimate, and residents are encouraged to report these crimes.

Reply:Come on nobody ever just gets free money. You hear about stuff like that all the time on the news but it thought it mostly happens to the elderly.
Reply:I received one stating that I won a lottery and telling me that I should deposit the check in my bank account. It was bovine excrement. I'm a Retired Cop and I know enough to check these things out first. DON'T FALL FOR IT, IT'S A SCAM

Reply:It's a scam. They send you the check,but it's a discount voucher for looking at some real estate they are offering for sale. Never give your personal info like bank account or social security numbers to these people.
Reply:this one is one of many types of scam, check the fine print on the papers that were in the envelope, if theres a check, with your name on it make sure that you destroy it immediately, do not cash it. chances are that it is the starting point of a very expensive loan that you just signed for , and that it would be very hard to get rid of once it goes to a reputable bank.the old maxims are still true, if the item in question is too good to be true, then it probably is. buyer beware the ulcer you save may be your own.
